Frequently Asked Questions
If I purchased my appliance before the program period starts(February 12th, 2010), can I still apply for a rebate?
No, the program requires that appliance purchases take place during the program period.
Can I get a rebate for a clothes dryer?
No, rebates are only for qualifying ENERGY STAR appliances. Dryers are not ENERGY STAR qualified and are not eligible for the rebate.
Can I get a rebate on a dishwasher if I purchase it separately?
If you purchase the dishwasher along with a refrigerator and clothes washer, then you may qualify for the Option 2 Appliance Bundle rebate. There is not a rebate for a separate dishwasher in this program.
What if my purchase is not ENERGY STAR rated?
The purchase will not qualify for the rebate if requirements are not met. If you applied for the Option 2 Appliance Bundle and one of the items does not properly qualify, then the bundle requirements are not satisfied. However, the individual items may qualify for Option 1 rebates.
What happens if I applied for a rebate, but I need to return my appliance to the retailer?
If you return the appliance to your retailer for a refund, then you no longer qualify to keep the rebate for that appliance. You are obligated to contact us to either cancel the rebate application if your rebate check has not been issued yet, or to arrange to return the funds if you have cashed the rebate check.
If I purchase an appliance during the program period, but the website says there are no remaining funds and won't let me fill out a rebate application what can I do?
This is a first-come, first served program. Once program funding is depleted, applications will no longer be accepted.
Does the appliance need to be purchased from a retailer located in New York State?
No, the appliance does not need to be purchased in New York State but needs to be purchased by a New York State resident and the ENERGY STAR qualified appliance must be installed at a New York State residential address.
If there are remaining funds after the end of the program period, can I still purchase an appliance and get a rebate?
If funds remain after all rebate applications are processed at the end of the program period, the program administrators may schedule an additional program period. If that occurs, any appliance purchases would have to conform to the requirements of that additional program period to qualify for a rebate.
